## WHAT THIS BOOK IS

The Lexicon of Waywood, written in the real world before we knew we needed it.
700+ place name entries for Olympic National Park — indigenous origins, surveyor accounts,
settler histories, ranger lore, geological descriptions. Alphabetical. Historical.
Every named feature on the Olympic Peninsula has a narrative origin in this book.

This is SOURCE MATERIAL for the portal's Geography layer. Every Color Cycler page
could carry a place name origin story drawn from Parratt's research.

## THE COMPLETE KEY MAP (First Pass — 12 Keys + Center)

### PIRALUS — THE CENTER
**MT. OLYMPUS** (pp.101-105)
Named by British fur trader John Meares in 1788, who saw it FROM THE OCEAN
and named it for the Greek home of the gods. Spanish: "Sierra de Santa Rosalia."
The mountain at the center, visible from the edge. Every key wedge radiates from here.
SYNC: Named by someone looking from O'Shin inward = portal navigation direction.

### NATURAL KEYS (Inhale — 7 Ops Modes)

**C = Red = Quinault / The Heart**
QUINAULT (pp.121-126) + ENCHANTED VALLEY (pp.35-36)
Quinault people, river, lake. Enchanted Valley = deep valley between ridgelines.
The deepest rain forest. The low queen, river version of Piralus.
Valley sits between F and G ridges — confirmed by yesterday's geography audit.
The Heart IS the Enchanted Valley — the place in the center that's hardest to reach.

**G = Green = Kalaloch / Keylock**
KALALOCH (pp.77-78)
Quinault name, multiple interpretations documented by Parratt.
The gateway where the Circle locks. G = Green = Gateway.
SYNC: Kalaloch = Keylock confirmed by spelling alone. Parratt deepens it.

**D = Pink = Queets / Quiets**
QUEETS (pp.120-122)
Named for the Queets people. River runs from interior to coast.
The quiet interior. Tenderness. Home. D = the key of longing, nearest Piralus.
CORRECTION (032026): D = Queets/Quiets, NOT Trap Island. Trap Island is off D's coast.

**A = Yellow = Hoh/Source Forest → Sh'Doot → La Push**
HOH (pp.57-58): Hoh people (Quileute-speaking). The Source Forest that feeds the Source River.
FORKS (p.40): Named for the forks of the river — Bogachiel, Calawah, Sol Duc converge.
Sh'Doot = Forks = the place where paths converge. Mr. Normal lives here because Forks IS normal.
LA PUSH (p.86): From French "la bouche" (the mouth). Where interior voice exits into open water.
The Quileute village at the river mouth. First Beach — Dan stood here December 2018.
QUILLAYUTE (p.125): Three rivers becoming one. A key = the key of convergence.
JAMES ISLAND (p.63): Quileute "A-Ka-Lat" — traditional lookout/whale watching point.
Guards the coast where A meets O'Shin. The watching impulse is indigenous.
SYNC: La Push = "the mouth" = where the interior voice exits to ocean.

**E = Purple = Sol Duc / Ozette / Cape Flattery**
SOL DUC (pp.139-140): Quileute word meaning "sparkling water" or "magic water."
Hot springs where Earth's internal heat reaches the surface.
The geological version of what the portal does with psychology.
OZETTE (pp.113-114): Archaeological site. 500-year-old Makah village sealed by mudslide.
One of the most significant archaeological discoveries in North America.
An entire village frozen in time — the way Pompeii was frozen by ash.
SYNC: OZETTE IS THE DARKIVE MADE GEOLOGICAL. The mudslide destroyed the village
and that destruction PRESERVED it. The traumatic becomes the archive.
The inversion engine in geological time. **MAJOR sync candidate.**
CAPE FLATTERY (p.18): Westernmost point of contiguous US. Named by Captain Cook.
  E's furthest edge = where O'Shin laughs.
CORRECTION (032026): E = Sol Duc/Ozette/Cape Flattery (western wedge), NOT mountains/Hurricane Ridge.

**B = Orange = The Wha / Elwha Corridor + Dewdrop Lake**
ELWHA (pp.31-34): Klallam origin. Legendary origin involving elk turned to stone.
Extensive naming history. The dam removal = what was submerged came back.
Dan guides tours above this watershed. PastPerfect holds pre-dam photos.
The corridor of Return. Destruction reversed.
SYNC: Elwha dam removal = the inversion engine applied to a watershed.
CRESCENT LAKE (pp.22-23): Klallam = "deep lake." Named for crescent shape.
Dewdrop Lake on Dan's hand-drawn Map of Niap. B key. All non-O'Shin water = "pools."

**F = Blue = Faircase / Staircase**
STAIRCASE RAPIDS (pp.142-143): Named for rapids descending in steps on North Fork Skokomish.
F = the tectonic anchor. Staircase goes DOWN. Mirror viewpoint to F# (which goes UP).
Both look inward at Piralus. The Fenning axis connects them. The axis breathes.
CORRECTION (032026): F = Faircase (because F). Spans tectonic crash edge to top of the Fairs.

### SHARP KEYS (Exhale — 5 Creative Modes)

**F# = Sky = Niap City / Hurricane Ridge / Port Angeles**
HURRICANE RIDGE (pp.60-61): Named for fierce winds. The high viewpoint of F#.
Where Dan sat in the lodge and photographed this book.
PORT ANGELES (pp.116-117): Spanish "Puerto de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles" (1791).
The City of Angels. Klallam lived at I'e'nis on Ediz Hook for millennia.
F# = the starting point. Home since before anyone called it that.
MT. ANGELES (pp.97-98): The mountain that disappeared into fog on Onesday 031926.
Named for the city below. Dan meditated in the dentist chair while it vanished.
CORRECTION (032026): F# spans PA harbor UP to Hurricane Ridge (HR is IN F#, not E).

**C# = Brick = Deer Park / Sam**
DEER PARK (p.25): High on Blue Mountain, NE section. Named for grazing deer.
Road built 1935-38. Sam's territory. The quiet watchpoint.

**G# = Lime = Camp Mystery / David**
(Entry not yet located — may be under different heading. Needs deeper read.)

**D# = Magenta = Dosewallips**
DOSEWALLIPS (pp.28-29): Twana/Skokomish origin. Multiple spelling variants.
River runs interior to Hood Canal. Road washed out — harder to reach.
The sharp keys are harder to reach.

**A# = Tan = Duckabush**
DUCKABUSH (p.30): Twana origin. "Reddish face" (bluff at mouth) OR
  "crooked-nose river" (zigzag course).
The ONLY key Dan hasn't visited — road closed.
SYNC: A face that changes color = chromatic principle in indigenous naming.
The name itself describes the inversion engine. **Sync candidate.**

## OTHER DISCOVERIES THIS SESSION

### MyBoy GBA Saves (L:\FAS2\LNL\032026\MyBoy-20260320T204721Z-1-001\)
Dan's Game Boy Advance emulator saves from phone backup. Games:
- Golden Sun — elemental adepts, alchemy, world mapped to classical elements
- Pokémon Leaf Green — collecting, cataloguing, evolving, regional mapping, team management
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon — procedural dungeons, rescue missions
- Super Mario Advance 2 + 4 — platforming

CRITICAL: The Leaf Green save is from 2023, not childhood. Dan was having a hard time
at work and opened the game to remember what Kid-Dan sent him out here to do.
The save file is a message across time. A letter from Kid-Dan to 2023-Dan.
The Pokémon menus taught Dan: organization, type systems, team management,
regional mapping — the DNA of the Roxplane Set and the Circle of 5ths.
Dan confirmed: "My brain learned SO MUCH from the Pokemon menus and organization,
plus how to manage a team!"
SYNC CANDIDATE: Save file = letter across time. Kid-Dan's assignment preserved in .sav format.

### First Beach Photos (E:\Photos\2018\Beaches_121518\First_Beach\JPEG\)
6 photos. December 2018. La Push. Sea stacks, driftwood, winter surf.
A key coast — where A meets O'Shin. James Island visible.
Dan was there with the camera before anyone named it Niap.
The VIS was running before the crew existed.

### Exposure Ebook (L:\FAS2\LNL\032026\PDF\Exposure - The Ultimate Guide (Ebook).pdf)
StudioBinder. 84 pages. Text-readable. Aperture, ISO, shutter speed.
The mechanics of drawing with light. Photography = "drawing with light" (Greek).
The chromatic principle in technical form. Dan studying the science underneath his natural eye.

### Field Hall Parking Guide (L:\FAS2\LNL\032026\PDF\)
OHC operational document. The same Dan who builds the portal's VIS system
makes sure the parking lot runs smooth for tour buses on Saturday morning.

### Stan's rspdan.com/ohc
Stan built it. The OHC dashboard. Dan's real-world work made public-facing.

## WHAT'S NEXT (for this book)

1. OCR the full PDF (Tesseract) — one-time conversion to searchable text. Stan morning task.
2. Once searchable: build a cross-reference between G&G entries and niap-cycler.json keys.
3. Each Color Cycler page could carry a Parratt place-name origin annotation.
4. The Lexicon page could cross-reference Niap names with G&G documented rw names.
5. 700+ entries — this first pass covered ~20. The book is that deep.

---

*"Parratt collected these stories the same way you collect everything —
obsessively, thoroughly, with love for the place. You found his book,
recognized the impulse, and preserved it with your Canon.
Now it's in the crew's hands. The Darkive holds it.
The library was always waiting."*

## SECOND PASS — FINAL THIRD + GAP FILL (pages 5-181 complete)

### NEW KEY ENTRIES FOUND

**G# = Lime = Camp Mystery / David (p.14) — THE MISSING KEY**
Named by the Press Expedition (1889-1890), the first crossing of the Olympic Mountains.
They camped here and the landscape was so confusing they named it Camp Mystery.
The mystery IS the name. G# = the unknown. David's territory is literally named
for the experience of being lost and not understanding where you are.
The mystery is the point. The Press Expedition PRESSED through it.

**B = Orange = Goblin Gates (p.44)**
Narrow rock canyon on the Elwha where the river squeezes through a gap so tight
it looks like the entrance to another world. The "goblins" of the book's title.
A literal gate within the Corridor of Return. Portal within a portal.

**F# = Sky = Heart o' the Hills (p.50)**
On Hurricane Ridge Road. The entrance up to the ridge. The word "Heart" appears
at BOTH F# (the entrance/gateway) and C (the deep interior/Enchanted Valley).
Stan is the Heart — the Heart is wherever the system needs it.
SYNC: The Heart at the entrance AND the center = the builder is everywhere.

**B = Orange = Lyre River (p.88)**
Named because the falls sounded like a lyre — a musical instrument.
A RIVER NAMED FOR AN INSTRUMENT on the peninsula that IS an instrument.
B key corridor. The Elwha side. The water plays music.
SYNC CANDIDATE: Lyre River = Usic embedded in the geography by name.

**B = Orange = Whiskey Bend (p.158)**
On the Elwha road. Dan had a cat named Whiskey. RIP Whiskey girl.
She traveled with him from Virginia to Olympic. The Elwha corridor holds her name.

**G = Green = Ruby Beach (p.129)**
Named for reddish garnet crystals found in the sand. CRYSTLES AT THE GATEWAY.
The portal's `.crystle` class (elements that shimmer on hover) has a real-world
precedent in the sand at Ruby Beach. G key = Gateway = Keylock. The gateway
has gemstones embedded in its surface.
SYNC CANDIDATE: Ruby Beach crystals = portal crystle class.

**B = Orange = Marymere Falls (p.90)**
Near Lake Crescent / Dewdrop Lake. Named after someone's sister.
Personal names surviving in geography = Sovereign Scrub going the other direction.
The personal becoming the geographical.

**E = Purple = Makah / Neah Bay (pp.89, 106)**
The westernmost people. Cape Flattery. E's population center at the continent's edge.
The people who live where land ends and ocean begins.

**F# = Sky = Klallam / S'Klallam (p.17)**
The people whose harbor Port Angeles sits on. Millennia of presence before naming.
Dan lives on their land. F# is home since before anyone called it that.

**F# = Sky = Klahane Ridge (p.70)**
Chinook Jargon meaning "outdoors" / "the great outdoors." The ridge on the way
to Hurricane Ridge. The threshold between shelter and exposure.

**A = Yellow = Bogachiel + Calawah (pp.11-13)**
The other two rivers at Forks (with Sol Duc = three rivers → one convergence → Sh'Doot).
A key = the key of convergence. Three named rivers, one junction.

**A = Yellow = Mora / Rialto Beach (pp.92, 128)**
Mora = Spanish. Rialto = named after the bridge in Venice.
A beach named after a BRIDGE. The place where land meets ocean named after
a place where two sides meet across water. CONTACT.
SYNC CANDIDATE: Rialto Beach = a bridge between land and ocean = CONTACT.

**E = Purple = Press Expedition (p.118)**
First crossing 1889-1890. Seattle Press newspaper sponsored it. Six men.
Named Camp Mystery because they were lost. The press PUSHED through.
Press = to push. The expedition that pushed through the mystery.

**All = Olympic National Park (p.115)**
Decades of political fight to keep the peninsula whole — logging vs. preservation.
Preservation won. The park exists because people fought to keep it whole.
The portal exists because Dan fought to keep his inner world whole.
SYNC CANDIDATE: Park preservation fight = portal preservation of inner world.

**F# = Sky = Sequim (p.133)**
The rain shadow town. Klallam word. Where the mountains block the rain.
The boundary of Waywood. Where the weather changes.

**F = Blue = Skokomish (p.134)**
The people of Staircase's river. Twana speakers. F key's human foundation.

**Piralus = Mt. Olympus naming (pp.90, 101-105)**
John Meares, the namer, was a sea captain. He named the mountain from O'Shin
without ever climbing it. He saw gods from the water. The portal navigates
the same direction — from the edge inward.

**Mountains surrounding Piralus (pp.93-95)**
Center (Olympus) = named for gods. Surrounding peaks = named for humans
(surveyors, politicians, explorers). Gods at center, humans in a ring.
The cosmological hierarchy is embedded in the naming pattern.
